London mayor, Sadiq Khan, says he will never be embarrassed to make the positive case for immigration.
London would not be London without the migrant communities that contribute so much.
Writing in the Evening Standard, Khan says: “And, with intolerance and fascism on the rise on a scale we have not seen since the 1930s, I’m also pushing progressive leaders across Europe to redouble efforts to make the positive case for immigration and tolerance.
Despite all the evidence, too many politicians have been scared of saying what they really feel about immigration… And too many have pandered to divisive voices, rather than doing and saying what is right”.
